| alphabet magnet set from Nice Day Designs |
The daughters, aged 5 and 7, would be offended now by being bought the alphabet but if I could get away with it I'd get them Ruth's charming magnets.
While engaged in humanitarian Xmas browsing, I also spotted that a new book, The Irish at Home, featuring 35 beautiful Irish homes, has been published without my house in it. Surely some mistake?

I shall certainly boycott that book. Good lord what were they thinking?
ReplyDeleteThat reminds me - I am going to send you a card this year, but I may have mislaid your address. Please email it for me, and don't bother about the present - I haven't bought yours yet either.
ReplyDeleteYour book is called The Irish on the Edge. It is wittier and glossier and prettier and isn't shared with 34 other people. I gave it *****.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lucille. You are right at the top of my list of top people.
DeleteI have just ordered a set of those magnets - cheers! I was very disappointed to find your list of recommendations was so limited, after your mention of an avalanche.......I had hoped you'd ferreted out ideas for all my Christmas shopping. Mr VTT wrote a book about Ireland once - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Irish-Country-Style-Bill-Laws/dp/051722755X/ref=la_B001JS8JP0_1_14?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1353622707&sr=1-14
ReplyDeleteGoodness me, how enterprising of him! His book looks charming and packed with lifestyle. I see he's written a book on the Perfect Country Cottage as well - just what I need.
DeleteThe book was originally intended to have 36 homes in it (much nicer number). It was just that you were out when the photographer rang to make the appointment.
ReplyDeleteThe magnets are darling--I love the vintage look of the pictures. Maybe your daughters could get them for you?
ReplyDeleteI will write a letter of complaint to the publisher. Maybe you are keeping too low of a profile?
Thank you, Jen. A letter of complaint from a nation known to have nuclear capability will be taken very seriously.
DeleteScottish husband disqualified you from being in the Irish at Home. You are harbouring an alien you know.
ReplyDeleteAh that'll be it, so. I was baffled by the omission as I am Irish and I am at home.
DeleteClearly the publisher is merely testing the market and plans a larger, glossier volume to showcase the crème de la crème ... I'm sure they'll be writing to you soon.
ReplyDeleteI had to chuckle at comment 'Amee'! Too funny! Married to a Welshman for the last 37 years I still cannot figure out the difference betwixt Irish, Welsh and Scots! Oh dear, is this a blunder? Don't mind me, I am just in the learning process!
ReplyDeleteYou will let us know Mise if your home makes the cut? Obviously Annie is right on!
Blessings,
Hi Mise,
ReplyDeleteI think that 'The Irish At Home' are waiting to do a Pretty Far West special so get the Dyson out and the pot pourri at the ready !
Lovely to have you back......Panetonne is being gift wrapped as we speak !! XXXX
My running gals and also I are having a carb fest on Friday, appropriate before our first half
ReplyDeletemarathon; I am in charge of bringing something sweet.
...any tips for high carb?.
My blog : cheap low fat recipes
Love the magnets! Oh and if the book featured your house, surely I would be buying it. Now you just have to print your own book, please. We are buying our boy who is 3.... A traffic light as a lamp to go with his car like bed(: plus he loves traffic lights and really wants "baby Jesus" - as I call Santa as that is how we call Santa in Czech ... He wats baby Jesus to get him a traffic light, and reminds me of it many times a day.
ReplyDeleteHugs z
I have done nothing but buy things for myself for days and days.
ReplyDeleteCute magnets.
They are saving your home for its own book.
