Don't rush off to pack just yet, as Margaret, who blogs at Permanent Magenta, is kindly offering a Pretty Far West reader one of her Moroccan paintings to celebrate finalising the arrangements for the trip. My favourite is the tranquil and exotic Breakfast in Marrakesh below, but the winner will get to choose his or her own preferred painting from Margaret's vivid Moroccan series.

Margaret tells me in passing that she has recently learned how to count up to ten in Irish. A haon, a dó, a trí, a ceathair, a cúig, a sé, a seacht, a hocht, a naoi, a deich. For a third entry, marvel suitably at this.
Gut. Ted. On the last one. Completely too discouraged to count to anything!
ReplyDeleteThat's a pretty picture Mise...I could definitely find a home for that!
ReplyDeleteOh and yes...if you are teaching counting in Irish I'm in...would love to add it to my list:
ReplyDeleteMandarin
Japanese
German
French
Oh you are such a dear Mise!! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteHello Mise
ReplyDeleteI love the painting you featured - it is cheerful and happy. Are you planning on going to Morocco?
It looks like an in-depth art course - lots of fun and interesting venues included. Two teachers will guarantee lots of individual attention.
Wishing you a joyful week
Helen xx
Oh. I wish I could go on the Moroccan drawing and painting adventure. I wish I could count in Irish. Perhaps I can win a picture to cheer me up.
ReplyDeletegorgeous painting !!

What a lovely giveaway, I would love to hang this artwork in my living room. Thanks for sharing such a generous giveaway!
ReplyDeleteCounting in Irish! I'm very impressed!
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful paintings, as always. Yes, please count me in (counting in Irish)for your fabulous giveaway. xx
ReplyDeleteHello Mise:
ReplyDeleteOne giveaway is succeeded by another. What fun all of this is and although we should be useless on the course, having no ability at all when it comes to drawing and painting, how wonderful to spend time in Morocco.
Love the painting.
ReplyDeleteI am in.
It's one thing to count to 10 in Irish on paper but can she say those words out loud. Because that's the tricky bit isn't it.
xo
I have, over the years, learned to count in French, German, Russian, Spanish, Latin and Indonesian ..... just don't ask me to demonstrate!!
ReplyDeletefor minute there i thought the title read a moroccan adventure giveaway. but these paintings are close enough to the real thing! they're lovely!
ReplyDeletetotally cant count to ten in irish, but ask ne after my next beer, and i just might.
Such exoticism. I wish Margaret and Elizabeth a lavish and colourful time! And please count me in. I'd swoon if I won. If we meet in person someday, you can teach me to count to ten in Irish but with a Scottish-husband accent for the fun of it.
ReplyDeleteooh, they are pretty pictures. Count me in :) I can count to ten in Irish but don't ask me what 11 is.
ReplyDeleteI've just remembered. 12 is a dó dheag, is 11 a haon dheag then?
I would choose the bowl of oranges because it looks so inviting and would brighten up any drab day if it were perched to the ever-so-slight-LEFT of my desk in the office. Then, whilst figuring our what comes after 'Deich' I could dream of the warmth of the sun in Morocco and the scents and smells of the spices would drive me over the bridge of insanity giving me good blog fodder. A lovely little giveaway to be sure.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous paintings, took me right back to my holiday in Morocco, it was lovely.
ReplyDeleteI used to be able to count in Welsh but I've forgotten how to now.
Absolutely love the Moroccan Souk painting!! It's just where I dream of when I think of exotic holidays! Gonig on the trip would be wonderful - but failing that - having the picture would be brill!! something to brighten up every day!
ReplyDeleteMorocco sounds like a perfect winter destination! The colours in her painting are so warm but like Wisemona, I love the oranges and blue tiles. Then again, the souks would find a home in our island home too...
ReplyDeleteThank you for the opportunity!
Blessings,
Counting in Gaelic is certainly impressive! Dad in law was Welsh but I do not recall him speaking the language at home. I just know I love the sound!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
How nice of you to give so many things away.
ReplyDeleteThrilling to know there are real people known by people I know who host art classes in Morocco.
Margaret is truly talented, such vibrant paintings and their trip sounds amazing. I have taken a look at all the painting and it was very difficult to chose a favourite, but I have to say I really love the tea at the seaside painting- so pretty! I was never very good at Irish but every so often words come back to me
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to enter this lovely giveaway
All things nice...
What a great giveaway! Count me in please!
ReplyDeleteAs for counting in Irish, I'd love to be able to as we visit Ireland every year!!
ReplyDeleteCan you help with the pronounciation though???
Hello Mise - what incredible art by Margaret. My favourite has to be Marrakesh Souks. I love her use of bright, vivid colours; really speaks of Morocco as I'd think it would be. Heck I want to go with these ladies. Thanks so much for commenting on my blog last week. SO good to hear from you; as always, you make me laugh! Hoping you and your family are all very well?
ReplyDeleteCheers! Deb x
This blog looks different... Can't quite put my finger on it. Has it lost weight?
ReplyDeleteNear enough, Amee; the blog has taken up meditation and has a peacefully complacent look as a result.
ReplyDeleteI dedicate this comment to Mise who artfully manages to make me laugh even during a giveaway post. If I win this wonderful painting I will leave it to you in my will.
ReplyDeleteAre you impressed?
Warmest wishes from France (not Morocco),
Stephanie
I've just raced over and befriended her between Etsy shops! Those colours are mind simply fabulous :) I would have chosen one with so many colours you'd think a parrot had flown into the room. Now - should we take that through the green lane or the red lane?
ReplyDeleteLovely giveaway Mise...
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are generating the law of abundance lately... trying to win over the giveaway gods hey? Lovely artwork.. now if I could just win a trip to Morocco
Have a great week.. ciao xxx Julie
I never knew how to count in Irish, so thanks for the quick lesson! The workshop would be amazing. Wish I could take part. The painting would just have to do ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful picture.... Now that would look lovely on anyone's wall and bring so much pleasure. xx
ReplyDeleteThanks so very much Mise for hosting this giveaway on your lovely blog! We are looking forward to
ReplyDeleteour Moroccan adventure and to meeting all of you who come along with us to paint and draw.
If you've never had a chance to paint and draw before, that's just fine. We are gentle instructors and the materials we'll use; water paints, ink , markers, pencils... are a great place to begin.
Hope to see you in March!
Elizabeth
That's lovely. Makes me want to jump on a plane.
ReplyDeleteJust been catching up on your blog, dear thing and you are hilarious. Wonderful and entertaining and hilarious.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great start to my day, thank you!! x x x
My home could certainly make room for some Moroccan color! Would love to be on the Road to Morocco, but in the meantime, put my name in the pot for the drawing.
ReplyDeletewould love a touch of Morocco-add me to the draw.thanks
ReplyDeleteWinning one of Margaret's paintings would definitly console my loss of not winning, once again, the ever elusive enamel number sign...ah well, now I have another treat to wish for and dream of, thank you Mise!
ReplyDeletexo J~
I can count to ten in German....but I could not spell it out for the life of me (without assistance that is)...so I am marveling greatly at Margaret's prowess in the counting and yours in the writing, despite the fact that it's your native tongue.
ReplyDeletexo J~
I'd love a parrot like that to fly into my world Mise - great colours!
ReplyDeleteDid i forget to tell you how much i would love one of these paintings?
ReplyDeleteWell let me count the ways, oh never mind I can only count in English oh and Spanish.
So here's to hearing from a bisexual bi linguist!
Cheers1
xo Jane
I'm really glad I discovered your blog - those paintings are absolutely gorgeous. I'd love to look at one of those paintings every morning while eating my breakfast :-)
ReplyDeleteI am learning to count in Japanese. I think it might be easier. Her pictures remind me of Dufy. I can count in French too.
ReplyDeleteAaah, I just can't stop smiling - all those lovely colours and the wonderful sunny mood. They put me in a relaxed holiday mood - even though I have none in view at all....
ReplyDeletePacking my suitcase just in case... :)
For the languages: I speak already four; but on my waiting list to be learned is not Irish but Portuguese.... and maybe Spanish too - oh what fun!!!
I think I'd have to get the Moroccan interior watercolor 481 - it wood look glorious in my sun-filled verandah and the parrots and other birds could sit on the banana plants when they've had enough fun flying around and dotting bits of colours here and there!
OK; I admire Elizabeth' willingness to learn Irish to no end.... I should be so lucky to know English well enough :)
ReplyDeleteThose are just lovely! Sadly, I have neither blog nor website; however, I will marvel suitably at Margaret's multilingualism.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful paintings - would love the oranges against blue tile. Well done Margaret for learning to count.
ReplyDeleteI do believe I would be able to turn down the heating with one of these in my home!
ReplyDeleteAnd here's me proud that I can count on my fingers ....
ReplyDeleteI'd love one of the wonderful Morrocan paintings . They're all beautiful and the colours would keep me warm through the winter .
LOVELY, VIBRANT COLORS!
ReplyDeleteLESLIESCOTTDSIGN@SBCGLOBAL.NET
I just adore the colours just perfect to cheer you up on a grey day like today.
ReplyDeleteWow what a great giveaway! Ooh I think I like the Moroccan garden pool one. Also love the Tea by the Sea! Hard to choose, they are all so gorgeous and colourful!
ReplyDeleteWish I'd found your blog sooner - in time to keep my fingers crossed to win one of the wonderful giveaway Moroccan paintings. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHow far west is pretty far west I wonder?
