Harley

With the help of some valuable and considered advice, Scottish Husband has finally chosen a motorcycle.   It counteracts my raffish shed doors to give the place some gleaming petrol-fuelled dignity.

I'm too demure for motorcycle rides nowadays, although of course one stands around admiring the sound of the engine, but I may join the general vibe with a pair of white biker boots. They'd look well with a white cotton lacy dress, no, for the bohemian look?  Daisy-chain in hair, straw basket containing rescued baby hedgehog, always a bit late for lunch, that sort of thing.

And you may wish to dash off to add your name to the Permanent Magenta painting giveaway before it closes. Margaret, creator of my sunlit dress, is giving away this lovely bird.

The bag giveaway is still on the go here as well, and I'll draw a name as soon as my very next fit of enthusiasm and goodwill towards humanity strikes, more than likely after a smallish glass of wine.

  1. The bike is very handsome, but I'm a tad fearful of them, sadly. However, I'm absolutely fine with biker boots, and especially white ones. Would love a pair. Very sweet bird painting by the way.
    Happy mother's day!

  2. Hello Mise:
We are afraid of motorbikes and know next to nothing about them, but we do know a stylish Harley Davidson when we see it for some reason or another.

We have also never owned or worn any biker boots, we tend to avoid lace, and cannot, sadly, remember the last time we made daisy chains. BUT, inexplicably, we know rather a lot about sheds and their doors and we really love yours!!

  3. I know enough about motorcycles to tell you - in case you had not worked it out for yourself - that your husband is going through one of the most extreme forms of mid-life crisis known to man.

Next thing you know, he will be buying a saxaphone, or worse - drum-kit. I feel for you.

  4. Our roommate has a Harley and I wouldn't get on it for love or money.

But we let him park it by our trash cans and recycling bin in the driveway and I must admit it adds a certain je ne seis quoi. As does my spelling of that phrase.

I am however a worldwide authority on boots and I can tell you those rock!

  5. *throws herself late into computer seat, props up biker boots, and pets little Hoggie*

Did your Scottish Hubby choose the bike because it was the missing primary colour? I can imagine you both looking at your shed doors thinking the scene needed a little extra something, and you missed the turn to Homebase to get a blue flower pot and ended up at the motorbike garage instead. These things happen, so I'm told.

  6. I once went to a ducatti party. it was parked in the kitchen and we all got to go look at it, and then ignore it and get on with enjoying ourselves. There was no question of us being allowed to ride it. I presume it got parked outside eventually, but not in such a stylish way as Scottish Husband has parked that pretty one.

  11. Scottish Husband and Jason have a lot in common. Tell him to pop over here and have a drag race with Jason in his 'mid-life crisis'.

I'll promise to wear my white go-go boots if you wear your white biker boots. xx

  16. I paint horror stories of bike accidents to dissuade my husband. But the image of you running late for lunch in your biker books and lacy dress with daisy chain and rescued hedgehog change everything!!

  17. Jabooppe, that's hilarious!
Scottish husband hopefully will remain ignorant of how you and Joe think, unless he's made of stern stuff :) Actually, he must be made of stern stuff...

  18. Your biker costume sounds just right! Sure beats the leather-y look around here! My husband had a Vespa and, later, an accident. So we're done riding.

  19. Gosh, that is a nice bike! Well, i know nothing about bikes but it certainly has that vintage charm. And you know how I feel about white boots :)

  20. My SIL has a Harley, which is fine. My GD has been riding on the back of it since she was about 9. Eep! Makes me nervous.

Love the idea of your outfit and white boots tho.

  21. Brunnel will be so very envious. His mean wife, who is awful fearful of motorbike accidents, will not allow him a Harley. Just a Vespa!! Please tell Scottish Husband to drive carefully.

  22. Scottish Husband has chosen a beautiful colour for his motorcycle. And what a perfect excuse for securing the white biker boots.

  25. I've got some big bike envy going on here in Houston. Please tell your Scottish husband that my Scottish husband & I sold both our bikes for our move to Scotland that is still in limbo. He snagged a gorgeous bike and I'd say you'd look quite divine in those white biker boots with a daisy chain perched on your head. Although I don't think it'd stay put for long! I entered the bird painting contest, so very gorgeous. Your husband is my kind of guy!
