This is Blue Daughter with pinkish-red carnations, for Sinead and flwrjane, who always post such pretty flowers.

And I've taken to this style of clear glass pendant light, and am wondering whether I could make something similar but bigger for the hall using a goldfish bowl and Scottish Husband's electrical skills. Now that he has affixed the magnetic knife-strip to the wall, anything is possible.

She is so adorable!
ReplyDeleteWhen Scottish husband is done can you send him my way... I'd like a matching lamp please.
Oh Mise,
ReplyDeleteBlue daughter looks so cheeky....very much like me when I was little (...... in that galaxy far, far away !!)
Jim Lawrence has some great stuff but, I think that Scottish husband could definitely fashion a similar light fitting with said goldfish bowl and his DIY skills. I await his photos when he is finished.....it might be a good idea to remove the goldfish first !! XXXX
Blue daughter looks wonderful. Crazy, but wonderful. Now that Jock has managed to affix the fridge-magnets, go for the 240 volt goldfish bowl.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous blue daughter.
ReplyDeleteMy Irish husband is usally good at DIY and can fashion a shelf out of anything apart from the month of February of course! Hence, am wondering if you hire out Scottish husband?
That's one cute face! I'm happy to see you like carnations....they are underrated. I happen to love them too.
ReplyDeletegood luck with the fish bowl and electrical thing!
Pretty ours may be but you have just raised the bar by putting the blue daughter in the pic with yours.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a daughter BUT I do have a much younger girlfriend often mistaken for my daughter. Perhaps I'll put her in my next flower post.
She also has great DIY skills and her hair is def long enough for a beehive.
I'm not trying to sound competitive. I love your flowers.
xo jane
I love that image of Blue daughter. You should hire her out to bloggers who need to make their blogs more adorable. We won't mention it to UNICEF...promise. xx
ReplyDeleteSo cheeky. So cute. Almost as though she could be a little friend in the Moomintroll series:).
ReplyDeleteI have a suspicion you are mentioning the rarely mentioned Scottish Husband again on the off chance that he will read your blog and conjure up a lamp... good luck with that... surely twice in a week would be miraculous?
ReplyDeleteAustralian Husband, despite the hardy and handy reputation of Australian Men, is neither so I don't mention him much...
a small domestic is always lovely. I love a glimpse of another.

ps humour lacking as I feel I am making up for my past cheeky post
Lookit at that little girl. She looks like she’s got something up her sleeve and is ready to start something. adorable. a little wild looking but cute just the same.
ReplyDeleteBlue daughter melts my heart. Are all Scottish husbands handy; mine could built a house out of a box of matchsticks! Wishing you sunny skies and lots of laughs for your weekend ahead Mise. xx
ReplyDeletePrecious picture of Blue Daughter with pink cheeks.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you could also use this light fixture as a lighted fish bowl - when you turn the light on would the fish fry?
Great, joyful picture of Blue Daughter. It looks like there was divilment in the air!
ReplyDeleteDid you get a new tablecloth without consulting us?
Aren't you lucky to have both a gorgeous looking kid and a handy hub. Good luck with both of them :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wide-eyed little girl!! You must be a proud mom!
ReplyDeletespeaking of electrical skills...hubby and I updated the lamp on top of our outdoor post yesterday--he has amazing knowledge for making connections :)
Speccy, I did - sorry about that. It was an impulse purchase. Will it do? I thought you might be tired of the old one.
ReplyDeleteJust imagine if your two and my two were to meet. The minx-o-meter would blow right off the scale.
ReplyDeleteGoldfish would look rather lovely swimming around that light. Especially the arcing electrics.
i want a half goldfish bowl to put on the wall in our bathroom but mc wife isn't too fond of the idea...
ReplyDeleteno pics of the magnetic knife strip...???
your wee girl is very cute...
the sky is the limit-
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute little monkey you have there!
I'm assuming that Blue Daughter takes after you, with that winning combination of radiance and cheekiness. I suppose Pink Daughter might then take after Scottish Husband and couldn't be in the photo due to fashioning a tiny magnetic knife strip for her dollhouse's kitchen?
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your discovery of baby jam jars. Your joy must be unconfined. Meredy xo.
A cheeky fab gem you have there. ie your baby girl. Your carnations rock my dear as too does the oilcloth. Goodluck with hubbi and the DIY! Sinead x ps thanks for the compliment about the pretty stems!
ReplyDeleteok, she is cute as a button! This is a term my sweet granny use to use, and I adore it - along with that light and your kitchen tile!
ReplyDeleteLovely Blue daughter is the perfect accoutrement to that beautiful oilcloth, vase and flowers.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Scottish Husband , I think he'll probably need a good rest now.
Such a bright happy with your little girl and the flowers. Your DIY plans for the light reminded me of that 80's (I think) series 'MacGyver!
ReplyDeleteI don't think Blue Daughter could be any more adorable. What a cutie.
ReplyDeleteBlue Daughter is a cherub. Have I told you this before? It bears repeating. And the goldfish bowl lighting arrangement sounds imminently do-able. "Well done," in advance to Scottish Husband.
ReplyDeleteYay! Hooray for the magnetic knife-strip :-) Wish The Doctor had practical skills, especially on a week such as this when my house appears to be falling apart around me.... *sigh!*
ReplyDeleteHi Dear Mise
ReplyDeleteWell blue daughter is such a sweetie.. so expressive.. just like her mamma.. yes?
I once had an upstairs apartment leak into my bathroom light fitting.. a bit like this one.. it filled with water and when I turned on the switch.. emitted an eerie glow and humming noise before the whole thing went belly up... it was quite creepy.. hahahah, first thing in morning I'm not too alert .. took me a while to figure out I was trying to electrocute myself... since then I sort of don't like the bowl style.. well not when you have an apartment above!! this one is cute though and I like it's simplicity
Thanks for the lovely comments.. it was nice to get a sense of humour back if only momentarily...
Have a lovely weekend and lovely Valentine's tomorrow.. ciao xxx Julie
I'm nervous for the goldfish, but blue daughter looks positively gleeful at the prospect. Shall look forward to the tutorial.
ReplyDeleteScottish Handyman Husband needs his own blog.
ReplyDeleteMillie x
The juxtaposition of beautiful Blue Daughter and perfect Pink Carnations is lovely. :)
