Things fall apart; the blogger cannot post

I fell off the edge of Blogtopia for a while there. There was such a ferocious amount of work to be done and the days sped by with hardly an email answered. I missed the graceful flurry of commenting wit, the giddy exchange of recipes. Perhaps I'll never know how your poem turned out, or your homemade Christmas mantel centerpiece.

To make amends, I thought I'd pop back here with an image of a teddy bear.

Greater love hath no woman than that she abandons her serious facade to post something like this. The veteran blogger strolls through the dense LA fog with his rookie assistant, their hands deep in their overcoat pockets. "That's the lowest point," he tells her, "when they post a teddy bear."

Amid the scrum, the most charming little bird arrived from Flora. Bless her for taking a notion to stick it in the post and cause international gladness. These little things that people make with care and send with impromptu goodness are the stuff of life. You may have heard that we're all shot to hell here in Ireland and have no theoretical money left. Well what of it? We have the bird.

And while you're here, if you haven't already, would you marvel at Jaboopee's St Brigid masterpiece? Note the jubilant colour, the intricacy, the scale. You mustn't tell her, but I'm hoping to launch the Pretty Far West Yacht (replica) Awards for Achievement in the new year and bestow the very first yacht (replica) on her. That's if I can get the glue to stick on this damned replica.

  2. The little bird is adorable. This is the time of year for centers failing to hold. Worry not.

  3. Mise, you do have a way. Your teddy bear shot is perfect. Good luck with your financial woes - Canada is not too far behind, it seems.

  4. You have been missed, but I can totally relate to the craziness of life, especially this time of year. Your comment about Ireland's economy, plus the image of the sweet bird, reminded me of a print I have at home. It's an illustration of a little bird and the caption says, "A financial mess, but at the liquor store they still call me 'mam." :)

  5. Nice to see you here again. If posting a teddy bear photo makes you happy, post away. Jaboopee's St Brigid is amazing. I love the way the cloak extends onto the floor. Brilliant.

  6. I actually think Teddy Bears are way more interesting than some of the other 'interesting' stuff people post.

I am so sorry about Ireland and your theoretical money and your formerly tiger economy. Nothing it seems really lasts. Unless you live in Australia where if you believe the hype we have the bestest economy on any planet in the history of all economies. When they start saying that its time to get scared.

  9. Thankfully I'm not a veteran blogger with a rookie assistant. The bear is very cute. And commiserations to you on the state of the Irish economy. I have a friend, originally from Galway, with a few unemployed siblings there at the moment. I hope things improve.

  10. Glad you are back and to hear you are all okay.

But let's not talk of money and financial ruin, shall we? Let's talk of Jaboopee's Marvellous, Magical, Mystical Mosaic, and of SNOW!!

We'll always have things to be grateful for, and we don't have to look too far. C x

  11. Well it's as cold as Ireland here in Virginia and the unemployment has reached 9%.Only 39,000 new jobs were created last month and I can't get the damn glitter out of my hair. Oh to be a florist at the holidays.

But I'm floating on a cloud having received such a rave review of my new header from herself.

My partner didn't understand a work of it, but living in blogland, as I do, i got it all.

  12. I have been fretting somewhat, and have checked back here with a furrowed brow several times in the past week. I appreciate your bear gesture, and Flora's bird is also sweet. All the best with the damn glue, Mise.

  13. Welcome back- my days were surprisingly unbeautiful without PFW updates.

I love the teddy bear. He's clean, not too obviously chewed and has a jumper that I want.

    Keep well and warm

Well, if bears are bad blogging material mine must be the pitts !! I can be known to post rather a lot of shallow drivle but, a little shallowness never hurt anyone did it ?!!!!
Sorry to hear that your snow has been a bit wishy-washy..... at least your rookie assistant can get into work without any trouble !

  18. Teddy Bears are all ways welcomed. They are only rated by the "Ah," they get. This one is doing fine - AHHHHH.

You comment about that though reminds me of the feeling I get when I watch a tv show and they take the characters away from there usual location and send them on a vacation - you wonder if the writers are on vacation themselves, or if they have run out of ideas.

After seeing Jaboopee's work I am going to take my chewing gum/bobby pin sculpture out of contention.

  19. By the way - if you are offered any money from the US, either spend what you can very quickly because,if worth anything, it will be devalued as you shop; or just save it for fuel to add to your new stove.

  20. Teddy has a quizzical look, as though undecided whether to take the viewer at all seriously.

Glad to hear you're inundated with work!

  22. I missed you Mise. So pleased you're back, and as stylish and trendsetting as ever. Have heard about Irelands financial woes. As the NZ dollar has never made it to any high points we didn't have as far to fall.

  26. It's OK. We've heard it's snowing and so forth there and were not expecting any member of the EU to post to their blog this month.

  27. In reply (finally) to your advent question - I bought it last year over the phone in Oz after seeing it in a mag - I'll dig out the clipping today and call them and see if they're still making them. Will let you know. A x

  29. Welcome back Mise
I missed your witty presence.. and think teddy looks like a pretty happy chap warm in his blue jumper.. I don't think he notices the GFC at all.. Is it still GFC or only IFC now? Somehow Australia missed most of it.. but I predict we will pay for the good times... [just better knock three times and spit over my left shoulder now!!]

Well off to check out Japoobee's St Brigid .. ciao ciao and happy wednesday.. xxx Julie

PS reading comments I see Jane agrees with my predictions..

  31. I have one of those little birds hanging in my 'all year round tree' - it's full of birds, feather robins and linen doves. Flora is a darling isn't she?
