  1. Ok nice boots but Im loving your stairs! I want to paint ours - would you recommend it? Sinead x

  2. I would, Sinead - they used to be varnished pine, which I hated. The painted stairs need more frequent hoovering/dusting but it's well worth it for their lightness. They are just about due a touch-up now after two years; the Farrow & Ball floor-paint is very good.

  5. It mustn't have been, Jacqueline. Boots can be very inscrutable.

  7. Jacqueline, I wouldn't dream of opening the bottle till you reach here. Much though I am often tempted.

  11. I often find boots and shoes left in the middle of our stairs, too (though never as photogenically). Unfortunately our stairs are not light and airy like yours so I don't always see the boots and shoes till I've tripped over them - for me, boots on stairs is dark and dangerous...

  14. My childrens shoes magically transport themselves too. From the doorway or hall where they are dumped to outside their bedroom door. Just like magic. Do your stairs wear?

  15. Do your beautiful little girls also have the power to make themselves invisible? Uh oh. You are in trouble.

  16. Ha! And that, my friend Mise, takes the blogging crown. Cool photography, amazing interior design capabilities and lovely boots. It's the trifecta of blogging.

  17. They don't wear badly at all, Jane - a few scrapes from moving furniture upstairs, but otherwise they would go years with no extra painting.

  18. LOVE the contrasts!!! I totally loved my white-painted stairs in my last house...well worth the small amount of upkeep.

But, more than that, these two pictures take the cake! Coming and going, these dramatic photographs about your little girls win the prize!
