finished bathroom in sight

This is the new bathroom, a work in progress.

It needs lights, a different mirror and that's about all. Perhaps fluffy new towels and bath-mats in a delicate sea-green or dinosaur-bone white. More botanical paintings. Sunshine. Helium balloons that say 'It's a Bathroom!"

A stained glass window would be lovely but that's an aspiration too far for now.

As the Duchess of Painting, I'm glad the end is in sight. Boring old painting. I'd much rather read your blog than paint.

  1. Very fitting for a design blog. I'm most impressed, Mise. I'll sit here for a while and watch your paint dry.

  3. The Duchess of Painting is a very fitting title, and you're obviously very good at it too.
My little Milly was very sad that your name did not come out as the giveaway winner, and has persuaded me that another prize should be awarded especially to you. Can you email me your address when you have a wee moment! xx
(I promise it wont be a booby prize)

  4. Mise, your bathroom is lovely. I would love to have a room large enough to have space like that. Your tub looks wonderful. I ma living with a good old boring builder tub.

  5. I am so very flattered that you think my blog more interesting than watching paint dry. Life's ambition fulfilled.

Nice tub if that's not too personal to say.... A x

  6. Oh, it's just lovely. You've done a wonderful job - a big job too given the size of the room. I even have loo envy!

  10. Looks great and cannot believe you painted it!! surely not. I rather like that mirror its roundness is a nice contrast to the square floor. Love the bath.

  11. So nice and spacious. Love the bathtub. I had a clawfooted tub at one time . . . and only filled it to the brim once. Such a waste.

  13. why doesn't it look like a chemist's shop like mine? I've been trying to peer at your products and I wouldn't be spending any time in your bathroom sniffing all your potions whilst you wonder what I am doing in there.
It looks like a proper restroom. I could probably meditate in there...

  15. Space envy going on over here at my house! What a lovely, luxurious, spacious bath!!! You've done a great job on it, painterly one.

  16. I love what you've done with it! Bathrooms do give us a big lift in life, for the obvious reasons. Yours, especially that deep tub ,should give you just about the best lift any girl can get at the end of a long painting day.

  17. When I move in, I'll try not to be too messy.
Do you have a secret present as a designer as well as the Duchess of Painting?

  19. It is most bee-yoo-ti-ful :-) It is just for decorative purposes, right? Presumably no-one is allowed to use it (though a lucky few may be allowed to admire it from the doorway)?

  20. Your bathroom is looking beautiful. I must look for "dinosaur white" for my office.

  21. I am guessing that you normally have a wine glass and a book on the nearby table when the lovely tub is filled with aromatic salts and bubbles.
Where are the wet towels that everyone else left on the floor and the dirty clothes that no one knows how to pick up? Such a pretty, and pristine privy. Must be my imagination or a magazine layout.

  22. One hopes that guided tours of Manoir (Palais?) Mise will be on offer some summer sun- with cream tea served on witty Burren stone plates included in the suitably elevated fee?!

  23. Dear Mise,
I can just see you soaking in that beautiful bathroom, with a gin and tonic in one hand and a bar of honeysuckle Bumblebee soap in the other......just one suggestion. I think a couple of Bonne Maman jars with bathroom type things wouldn't go amiss !!!! hehe. We would be happy to discuss your needs, here in the jar filling department. XXXX

  26. Looks lovely, Mise. I love the floor. It seems a calm place to relax in now. We have black and white tiles in our bathroom. I did put a stained glass window in and it was the best thing I've ever done in that room. Our old bathroom was tip. xx

  27. oh mise - it is lovely, but i must confess that as I look at it, i see the combination of my boys and my muddy garden and then i see the collaborative effort of all three and your beautiful bathroom doesn't have the same kinda effect any more!
i hope you enjoy it - i will just look at it and pretend i have no children for a minute!
