Worn with biker boots, it gives me a certain metropolitan moodiness, the look of someone who has an angsty blog. Lord knows I must chuck some of the long-promised disquiet in here soon before I lose all credibility. Underworld's Dirty Epic is on loop to help me along. Dated angst is all I can offer, dudes.
But while you're waiting for that, have a look at Kelly Swallow's lovely Squintesque chairs. How about this one, the chic and poised 'Long Leggy'?

When I die in a helicopter crash (if I die in a helicopter crash) I'd like the interior upholstery to be done in this style, so that I can spin to my death in a kaleidoscope of designer fabrics.
[If there are any lost souls looking for it, I'm deleting the Pretty Far West Facebook account. It was taking a week for the blog feed to reach it. In the feverishly paced world of exchanging pleasantries about curtains, that's useless.]

Fabulous coat. Nice choice!
ReplyDeleteMise...I think you are really funny.
ReplyDeletep.s. love the coat.
I like how you want your death to look like. That is pure devotion to lifestyle. Great coat too.x
ReplyDeleteI think people often think of what they want their death to look like but deny it.
ReplyDeleteFor me such thoughts are one of the main imperatives to wear proper underthings.
And you are so so right to trust the shop assistant. They never lie. Mind you it is a nice coat. She makes great rain boots too which I spotted on Splendid Willow.
xoxo
I love the coat
ReplyDeleteLove your new coat- I am sure the shop girl is right.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are not going into any helicopters soon- I would rather my yacht was done in this pattern.
I love the coat Mise, but don't like those morbid helicopter crash thoughts, even if done in such style. Please don't go for any rides on a helicopter in the near future!
ReplyDeleteAnd people say women dress to impress other women. it's actually to die in style... so upsetting if my roof caved in on me right now. I look a fright.
ReplyDeleteRaincoat envy. Auckland is AS wet as Ireland. A x
Oh I like that raincoat VERY much, but I'm afraid it wouldnae look good on me, what with the beachball stuffed in front & all... Grand chair too... good work all 'round I say!
ReplyDeleteGeez, Mise...do you always have to be so darn funny? Do you have a serious bone in your bod?
ReplyDeleteOK, I can see it...the coat and boots. Of course! Just look in the mirror and you'll be fine.
Do you have to live in Ireland to have that coat, because it's seriously cool. I think it may translate well to cold, wet, windy Canberra. For a moment there I thought you wanted the helicopter lined in that fabric...there's a thought for an edgy helicopter designer.
ReplyDeleteLove the raincoat - edgy indeed. And the patchwork chair is lovely. I'd want my death-by-helicopter to be just like yours.
ReplyDeletexoox,
-maria
ps: What Facebook?
Loving the vibes from both the raincoat and the chair Mise!
ReplyDeleteJeanne:)
How very perfect. Both.
ReplyDeleteI too find the fb feed thing very annoying, so I cancelled it and I just do it directly from blogger myself now. But I do use fb for many other things too so... I'll miss you there!
The helicopter speculation added a nice dark touch befitting that angst-ridden soft shell rain coat. I do like that chair, rather a lot.
ReplyDeleteLove the edgy raincoat. The chair looks like sample book threw up on it but somehow is still managing to pull off some dignity.
ReplyDeleteFor those of us who live in the wind and the rain, you may have found a holy grail coat; practical but still, somehow, stlish and edgy. Does your power know no bounds? I'd look like the proverbial sack of potatoes in that wonderful coat, but my point is valid.
ReplyDeleteWhy would one ever go up in a helicopter? Why? And, to be honest, I'm not sure visions of that chair would ease my death. Now, your sparkling sea pics, that's a whole different story. I'd be happy to look at those for ever
I hope you're liking my new word, 'stlish'. An amalgam of 'swish' and 'stylish'. Best employed after 2 glasses of wine. The coat is great, even in the cold light of day.
ReplyDeleteI would be happy to wear the chair I love it. The coat is very edgy in a sexy sort of not trying too hard way. But the chair is better and would suit me. xx
ReplyDeleteBe nice to the pretty chair, everyone, be nice to the chair. I can see it looking perfect on a painted white floor, in a bay window overlooking daisy fields. (That's my bedroom.)
ReplyDeleteSpeccy, maybe you and your two glasses of wine will come with me on my next shopping trip and we'll cross the cold light of day when we come to it?
the raincoat is very matrix-y, especially with the visual of the boots.... i dig
ReplyDeleteand LOVE the chair
~laura
I'd like to wear the coat and sit in the chair and read a good book. Great combination!
ReplyDeleteYOu are so hip and ever so edgy I am sure...I went to her site. Love and want everything on it so I too can be groovy and edgy..
ReplyDeleteNow you've got me pondering how I shall stylishly shuffle off this mortal coil. I'm thinking of going with "electrocuted by my electric cocktail shaker, wearing vintage Donna Karen"
ReplyDelete...or maybe just tripping over a celebrity potato masher in my Louboutins...
ReplyDeletedear mise,
ReplyDeleteamazing raincoat! and chair. please
lose the helicopter and keep writing
your super fun blog.
you're my first irish blog, and i am
VERY excited!
love,
lea
'spin to my death in a kaleidoscope of designer fabrics'
ReplyDeleteIf superstar blogging doesn't work out, you would do well to consider becoming a director of fashion-action-comedy crossover films. It's a niche waiting especially for you.
Will we see you on Twitter next? Apparently it's infinitely less annoying than Feckbook.
To where the coat you must practice your "I am so bored with it all" look, and to change the pace and soften the look you can part your lips just a little - no smile, no smile - and look like you are so cool but you do not know it (people will want your autograph).
ReplyDeleteLove that raincoat! Very sleek.G
ReplyDeleteThe raincoat is gorgeous! Well wear. You'll be delighted with yourself when winter comes! The chair is cool too.
ReplyDeleteYou're so right to quit facebook, Im not on it either. I am seriously considering signing up to Twitter but I don't know if I can handle another commitment ...sigh.
I would take you very seriously in that edgy coat and boots. Like The Smiths much? Anyhoo, the juxtaposition of the merry kaleidoscope upholstery of death with your very serious coat is, as usual, Pretty Far West perfection. All is well with the world. Thank you. I will sleep well tonight. Meredy xo.
ReplyDeleteThat chair is divine. If the helicopter crash doesn't materialize (let's hope not), just imagine a coffin lined with this gorgeousness. (Smile)
ReplyDeleteWell Mise I love this coat.. and suspect it would look fabulous on you!!! You can wear it whilst spinning in that ill fated helicopter ride!!
ReplyDeleteMy sister plans to put my ashes in a zip lock bag!! as I seem to like them so much.. then of course throw the whole thing out to sea... better get bio-degradable
Have a great week.. apologies for my tardiness!! xxx Julie
Not so sure how I'll go, but insist on cremation so I can be rolled up and smoked as a cigarette after.
ReplyDeleteThis may be a hint on my future demise.....
Love the coat, good to feel sexy/edgy in the rain.
And of course I want the chair. I want what you want evidently.
We'll meet in the middle- you with a picnic hamper and the style; me with the curly sandwiches and screw top wine :) There could be damage done.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love that coat of yours! Perfect with some big lace up boots and a bit of a windy day.
ReplyDeletejust the right amount of edginess and the right amount of non slip wetsuit material. good balance!
ReplyDeletePlease do not worry about dying in a helicopter crash. Because your lovely coat is half wetsuit. To the extent your crash takes you into water, you will be aptly attired. Who knew one (very cute) wardrobe piece could do so much?
ReplyDeleteHope you are well. ;)
welcome to the anti facebook gang. spin away dear lady, you've one less thing to do now..
ReplyDeleteI love your spectacular dream death. Happy twirling, or spinning, in your fabulous new coat....which I'm about to locate and purchase too. Would you mind? You're a style icon!
ReplyDeleteJanis, I'm honoured!
ReplyDeleteIt took me 20 minutes to leave a comment on your post because I had to pick myself up off the floor! Mise, you are tooooooo funny! Also, yiou have inspired me to get started desiging my wardrobe for when I die in some hitchcockian manner, thrown off a train or plummeting off of Abraham Lincoln's nose on Mount Rushmore.
ReplyDeletebrismod, think you mean 'devotion to deathstyle'...?
ReplyDeleteMise, the chair is gorgeous, and would only be enhanced if draped in you in your new raincoat.
Except that sounds dodgy *sigh* when it was only meant complimentarily xx
Hi,
ReplyDeleteEveryone has commented on the coat but I love the chair more. Helicopter upholstery in patchwork colours. Too Good.
Hey Mise
ReplyDeleteADORE the rain coat - a wetsuits what I need here in our wet, wet, wet winter in NZ!!
Same with the chair - very eclectic and would fit into my style with ease!
More Irish music please - I loved the galway girl one a few weeks ago!
Oh that end sentence. Heehee! :)
