oh look, it's a giveaway!

No, you're not mistaken; after all my vague promises it really is a bona fide giveaway. Mabel & Violet, the Irish home, gift & lifestyle boutique, is kindly offering to give one of the following items to a Pretty Far West reader.

For fans of retro kitsch and colour, there's this jolly hand-knitted teacosy. If I won it, I'd pass it off as my own work with a modest blush.
Or for fashionistas and admirers of the current grey trend, there's this elegant velvet cosmetic bag.

To enter, just indicate your interest by leaving a comment on this post by Saturday January 16th, stating which item you'd prefer. The giveaway is open to anyone, anywhere, including the three male readers. Implementation of the giveaway tips will get you nowhere.

  5. i love grey- and don't have a small bag at all. :)

  6. Oh how I love a giveaway!!!! (even if i have never won anything:)

    I would love the teacozy!

The bag is lovely, but I can't wear a pair of heels to match without looking like I have had to much drink... no heels; no pretty grey velvet bag..

So put me in for the tea cozy... no heels required! (even if the tea may have a little whisky in it! LOL!

    hugs~kimme

  7. Cool!

I really like the teacosy. And it would give me an excuse to buy myself a teapot (a heathen American, I just make tea right in the mug...)!

  8. I really like the tea cosy. I started knitting one of my own but I was daunted. This one's gorgeous.

For a school project my son made a tea cosy out of old tea towels and stuffed it with fake fur. I used it till it wore out.

  9. I think drinking tea from a well-dressed teapot would give me the touch of elegance I am looking for in my life...maybe. Tea cosy please.

  10. Much as I love the velvet bag, I just know it would be commandeered within 2 minutes by one of the sproglets who would fill it with glittery lip gloss and contraband lollies. So, it would need to be the tea cosy which would also go someway towards satsifying my homewares addiction.....it would also make me smile everytime I glanced its way. Meredy xo.

  11. Oh dear lord they are both so lovely! If I were to say that I'd have either does that give one more giveaway points for being easy (*ahem*), or less for being vague? I don't know, I hate decisions, I just know I love them both. I don't drink tea though...but then I don't get out much either...Oh dear. um, tea cosy. I'd get to look at it when the other half has tea, and I like big bags too much for a clutch.

  12. I love the Teacosy - so colourful and fun! G

  13. TEA COSY!!!! Without a doubt...!

(But unlike you, blush or no, I would not, never, ever, be able to pass it off as my own work. Not unless I "distressed" it some first...)

    ReplyDelete
  14. oh tea cosy - no decision there! Did i make this post of yours up after my post on tea? Is this an illusion? A dream? A fantasy about the tea cosy I couldn't believe I didnt have???

    ReplyDelete
  15. I'm afraid that, I too, love the grey,bag.
Also, things have been pretty quiet here at 'HOME', on the giveaway front, so, I'm keeping everything crossed. I don't know if I can keep everything crossed until January 16th, but I'll have a good go!!
Thanks for the lovely giveaway. Mise. XXXX

  16. Well, I guess pretty much all of us would love the grey velvet bag. I could use a new little bag....

    ReplyDelete
  17. Well, given that I have been consumed by the color gray lately I think it's only fitting that I win the gray bag, don't you?

  20. Grey bag please. Of course I must ask- is it lined? It is customary to show an inside shot of a bag as well as outside but beggars can't etc. Are you geographically constraining this G - away? xoxo

    ReplyDelete
  21. How exciting!

The grey bag for me please. It's beautiful, and my chap would be ever so grateful too, as at the moment my cosmetics are constantly spilling onto 'his side' of our very small joint dressing table...

    ReplyDelete
  22. yeahhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 i love the bag. thnk you for doing a give away

    ReplyDelete
  23. Jane, I haven't seen it myself but the Mabel & Violet shop says of the cosmetic bag:

"This toiletry bag is just divine! Luxurious grey velvet on the outside, lined on the inside and it snaps shut with the help of two glass diamond studded clasps. It makes for an ideal gift and girls just love it, don't we girls!"

and the giveaway is open to commentators everywhere.

  24. *sob* I'd honed those giveaway techniques as a new resolution for 2010! Please enter me for the giveaway; if I was forced to choose, it'd be the tea cosy. Funky!

  25. Me me me please for that superb tea cosy. Perfect for keeping tea warm while I choose a tea-treat. Or maybe a bag to carry my bestest chocolate with me!

And the winning ticket is a mauve color ticket, number 73, serial number 123456

Ah those were the days ... raffles at half time!

    :-)

  26. I would love the grey velvet bag, I do love the tea cosy also, and am a longtime advocate of the virtues of the tea cosy, but fear it would not fit my teapot x x

    ReplyDelete
  27. I don't drink tea, but recently discovered that I have 5 teapots. My husband could only be persuaded to stop dunking his tea bag and actually use one of the pots, if there was a suitable teacosy. As luck would have it, I've just spotted the very item on your post...

    ReplyDelete
  28. i like your hair
and your cheeks are so rosy
    you look very pretty
can i please have the cosy

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yay ~ thank you, Mise, Mabel & Violet! Much as I'm taken with that dear tea cosy and would happily accept same if it turned out that way, I need to get out more, ergo the chic grey velvet bag would be my first choice. Not that it would look anywhere near as fetching in my possession as yours, Mise, with your lovely hair and all. {Is there a triple word score for using ergo?}

  30. Ooh how wonderful, I would love that grey bag :)

  34. Lovin' the cozy, lovin' tea especially coming up smelling of roses like this 'un! Best of luck to ME!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Mise, you have induced a bit of an identity crisis. Do I want the 'stay at home, get all cozy and watch telly tea cosy' or the 'paint the town red grey bag?'

the tea cosy. who am i kidding.

    ReplyDelete
  36. LOVE the teacosy - I don't even own a teacosy and quite frankly, at my age, I'm not sure why not?!

I read your giveaway tips, that did make me laugh :) And yes, I do realise that flattery will get me nowhere :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. i would love the little velvet clutch! happy new year and glad to be a follower now :)

  39. HI Mise
Well I love the grey purse but should i win !!! I'd be happy for the tea cozy to go to Meredith. the wonderful colour mix reminds me of her blog so much.. it is very 'Meredy'.. hehe xx Julie

    ReplyDelete
  40. Julie, I've never seen anyone second someone else's name in a giveaway before rather than adding their own entry. If there were a prize for kindness, it would be yours.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I just found your blog!

Wow, well, as my teapot looks very bare at the moment and its very cold outside, I have to choose the tea cosy - its amazing and will save my teapot's blushes!

    ReplyDelete
  42. my friend would like to enter this giveaway too but
    she doesn't have a google identity .
She said she would like the tea cosy , she said If she wins could you please post it via jaboopee .

  43. Mabel&Violet lured me here from Twitter... the tea cosy AND the bag are both adorable. If pushed (and I am, right?) I'd go for the bag, though. :)
Greetings from the very wet South of country!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Ah! The tea cosy is too cute!
Please enter me to win. :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. Hi Mise,
The tea cosy for me and I'll make tea for thee.
Or even just the pattern and I'll "attempt" to knit my own, although it would be nowhere as beautiful as that one. :)

    ReplyDelete
  46. I've had my eye on all things velvet ever since the weather turned cold. It's so cozy and so fancy. That bag only furthers my obsession with the fabric!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Spotted that tea cosy this morning when I was ordering beautiful cushions from Mabel & Violet. The weather has just turned really nasty here on the Atlantic, so your blog is making me feel very toasty here, delighted to have found you!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Count me in. Would be happy to win either of the prizes! :)

    ReplyDelete
  49. ...your giveaway is amazingly charming in everyway. I adore them both ...sigh..to pick one..lets see ..I think it would be the grey velvet bag. It really was hard to pick. Thank you my friend for this giveaway. xoxo

  51. I love both, the tea cosy is so cool> I think it might inspire me and my class to start knitting! I'm inspired! Must get the dust of the needles, or the crochet needles!finfuloc

    ReplyDelete
  52. Sorry bout the finfuloc comment, it was the visual verification!! I'm new to this blog stuff!

    ReplyDelete
  53. I would love the grey velvet bag but would be equally happy with the tea cosy ... decisiveness was never my good point. Either way I'm happy to have stumbled across your blog :o) Michelle

    ReplyDelete
  54. Wow, 58 Comments. I suppose I wouldn't be the only one who has been coveting that grey velvet bag... but you have to be in it to eh, have a chance, so here I am ;)

    ReplyDelete
  55. I would love the teacosy, it would be the perfect companion for the new green retro telephone I got for Christmas. Lovely for having a cup of tea when I am on the phone to my mom : )

    ReplyDelete
  56. Loving the tea cosy. Fab! Have to have it for my kitchen

    ReplyDelete
  57. Oh, might as well. I never win any of there. However, how can one resist. I mean, getting a little package from Ireland alone, (even if empty) would be a treat. I'd choose the velvet bag. Pretty please. And your hair looks lov... No wait. You said not to. Right. Never mind that.

  58. Gray bag, protected form hands containing chocolate, glue sticks and human organs. I would covet it and pet it sometimes, too.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Jaboopee, yes, I know that friend of yours, the one without the Google account. I lent her some money and I want it back now. Please tell her so.

    ReplyDelete
  60. i would like the tea cosy please. i could put it on my head and pull it down over my ears . . to drown out the awful din my pink and blue children are making right now. OR i could use it to keep my tea hot.
or maybe the bag would be nice . . i could put my ear-plugs into it (that's if i don't win the tea cosy with which to cover my ears). i could also put my green sparkly eye shadow into it. despite being knee deep in nappies, peppa pig, yellow caterpillar trucks and magic wands (the wand is mine) a girl should always make time in the day for the application of sparkly eye-shadow.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Oh dear little tea cosy, say you'll be mine. The clutch bag is nice too, but I just don't think it would keep the tea quite as warm.

    ReplyDelete
  62. That teacosy just warmed my heart right up today :-) Please enter me into your competition to win :-)

    ReplyDelete
  63. I'm not a tea drinker but for that cosy I'd happily reinstate the tea pot on my kitchen counter!

    ReplyDelete
  64. I love that tea cosy - nothing like the one I knitted in school with the pompom on top!

You're looking particularly well.
