a hat for a stool

One of Habitat's Ingvar stools has been floating around my house for ages. Inspired by all the busy creativity that goes on around here, I thought I'd make a soft seat for it. So I added a round feather cushion and topped it off by making a loose cover to match one of the sofas.

I'm pretty proud of this, so don't you go saying anything disparaging about it in the comments. I think I'll paint the stool itself white, just like everything else.

  1. Wouldn't dream of disparaging, it's lovely :-)

Just slightly concerned that you might now have a big hole in the cover of one of your sofas.... ;-)

  2. Mise, that's beautiful! I absolutely love the fabric that you used for the cushion. (I'm sure pink-daughter is fond of it as well)

  5. Next time when I´ll be in Antwerp I surely will visit Habitat; it will be my first time :)
That stool has lovely round shapes, nice design! I actually discovered at Ikea small coffee-tables (new PS-collection) with those same shapes... and love it.
And the fabric... good choice!! :)

  12. A very nice job, but does it actually qualify as a stool now - I feel it is heading into pouffe territory (no disrespect towards pouffes, obviously)

  16. It's beautiful. You really are talented. The fabric is so fresh looking. I'd have the same idea and it would end up looking like a squashed bag lady. Just don't have the knack for soft furnishings. Wish I did. :O(

  18. I love it. What is the fabric? So much more comfortable than the milking stool style set up. Mind you I have one of those (a little milking stool thing I mean, not the fabric) in the bathroom for children's baths and they are quite useful. Maybe I will make a little hat for that one.

  19. I think you might have started a new trend - hats on stools. And I truly don't mean for this to sound disparaging!

  23. Look at you, you crafty lady, you..! I love it. Will you come over and make pretty hats for my kitchen island stools? It's exactly what I need - since replacing the fabric and wrestling with the staple gun every so often just doesn't seem nearly as efficient or glamorous.

  25. It's an adorable hat for a stool, but I'm still thinking of the poem you referenced. I linked to the full poem and can't stop wondering about these Cambridge ladies and their furnished souls. It's a poem that really sticks with you.
